We decided to make the move to Summerside PEI from Ontario in early 2006. After 'searching' trips for property, we found 44 Spring St. Not only did the property, house and area have all the 'desired' requirements, but we knew we could transform the home into a comfortable and stylish Bed and Breakfast. The second floor of the original house had a large two bedroom apartment, the renovations started in January 2007, by early Spring, the space was transformed into our three large guest rooms. Ready, licenced, and inspected, we were anxious to take our first booked guests. And so it continues to become to every guest a place of peace and rest.
The house at 44 Spring St. was built in 1906 after the 'big' fire. Built for Dr. Alex MacNeil of Summerside, his family lived in the home until the early 60's. The owners we bought the home from added a second wing, a new kitchen, two car garage with bonus room. They were careful to preserve the charm and character of the main house, with it's fabulous woodwork, and gleaming hardwood floors, while at the same time blending new with the old. Our guests enjoy a separate contolled entrance for ease of coming and going, a great gathering room, and tons of space. Our house has been recognized and awarded by the city of Summerside for it's heritage value.
